for Everyone"
In
its second floor studio space, the Gallerys experienced artist-teachers
conduct a variety of art classes each summer for children and adults,
and for beginning and experienced artists.
Artist-in-Residence
Fred
Messersmith is the Old Sculpin Gallerys resident artist teaching
Watercolor Classes to adults.He is the artists-in-residence at Stetson
University in DeLand, Florida where he served as Chairman of the
Art Department from 1959-1989. He is a member of Americas
oldest honorary society, the American Watercolor Society, and the
prestigious Watercolor U.S.A. Honor Society. He has been the artist-in-residence
at the Old Sculpin Gallery since 1964, and for 10 years was its
Gallery Director.His studio on the second floor of the gallery is
open to all, and he is always ready to assist member artists with
mat cutting, shrink wrapping, and signage for their works. Freds
presence reminds us all that, from the start, the gallery has been
dedicated to showing quality art and establishing an atmosphere
of culture and learning for the island.For more information on Fred

Childrens
Art Workshop
From
Monday through Friday mornings from 9:30 to 11 a.m. the childrens
art classes meet in the second floor studio turning the large barn-like
space into a whirlwind of creative excitement. Classes fill up early
so it is advisable to call to reserve a spot! There is a limit of
15 kids (ages 7-12) per class.
